Hello, I am delighted to have started my journey as an educator at The Treehouse: A Forest Garden School! Right now, I am also working towards an environmental science degree, with a focus in conservation and TEK application. My love of learning, and my own experiences as a student have pushed my dreams to become an environmental educator in an alternative school setting. It is exciting to take my first steps towards this at The Treehouse. Alternative schooling programs are critical to building perspectives that the structures of public institutions will not cover, as well as accommodating students with different learning styles. I believe that rebuilding and healing our socio-natural relationships is key to a brighter future, and that shaping young minds to regard the Earth from positions of reverence, understanding, and building community will help us achieve this.

I grew up spending most of my free time outdoors, raised in a household with very limited use of electronics. Most of my brother and I's play was centered around creative expression, time in nature, and letting our imaginations take the reins. This meant doing things like catching frogs barefoot in the swamp, collecting all the neighborhood slugs after a rainstorm, or spending hours in the woods building forts and playing games. I have such fond memories of these times, and spaces where I was given autonomy to expand my mind and senses helped me form deep connections with my surroundings and self. Now that I'm on the other side of things, I wish to spread this same joy of discovery to a new generation. We live in such a fast-paced, complex world for developing minds, which the approaches of RIE and Waldorf help redirect away from, and provide secure spaces for building foundational life skills while maintaining the magic of childhood.

Outside of teaching, you can find me keeping busy through creative projects, writing music, skateboarding, outdoor adventures, and working in my backyard. I have two laying hens who live in a DIY enclosure constructed from all repurposed materials, and a garden that I cultivate for each season that provides produce for both me and my chickens. I also love to draw and incorporate my art into clothing and crafting. I am lucky enough to have built a home with some of my closest friends - bonding over our various hobbies, home cooked meals, and growing with and supporting each other. This communal dynamic and sharing of skills is something I treasure, and I want to bring the same feeling to the classroom.
