March 16th ~ Clothing Swap

Setup ~ Friday the 15th from 3-5
Swap Event ~ 9am - 1pm

Treehouse will be hosting it's second clothing swap! We are doing another clothing exchange and this time including adult clothes too! This is a great time to refresh your own wardrobe while providing a sustainable way to pass on small clothes and discover larger sizes for your ever growing children. If you want to go "shopping" for you or your little ones, the shopping day will be from 9-1 on Saturday the 24th in the community room. We will be accepting clothes the week of February 19th. You may place clothing inside of the community room by the Oaks Classroom Door. Please drop all clothes off by 4 pm on Feb 23rd so we can sort them and set up for the event. We need volunteers to sort out clothes on Friday, February 23rd from 3 pm-5 pm. Please sign up in the parent volunteer form if you can come help on either that Friday afternoon, or if you can help during the "shopping" event. You can find these volunteer slots highlighted on the form. Reminder that these hours count towards your required yearly volunteer hours. NO RSVP required for the event and children are welcome! We're so excited to see your cute clothes and share in sustainability and abundance!

April 5th ~ Forest Run Fundraiser

Save the date for a magical and fun Spring event! On April 5th we will be hosting our Forest Run Fundraiser. At our old location we hosted 2 Halloween Fun Runs and we have hosted one Forest Run Fundraiser at our current location. They have always been SO MUCH FUN and the children get so excited in anticipation for this event! This event is open to all children, with sections tailored for both older and younger participants. Every child is encouraged to participate at their own pace, making it a fun and inclusive activity for all. People may begin arriving at 3:30 and we will begin running the course at 4pm. If your child does not attend that day, you are invited to come! If you have a 4:30 pickup and cannot arrive early, that's ok! Your child will get to participate in the event and we will have lots of pictures and videos. The theme for this year's Forest Run is Fairies and Forest Animals! We encourage all participants to come dressed as fairies and forest animals, adding to the enchantment of the event. In the lead-up to the run, each class will be engaged in activities to build excitement and anticipation. Even the Teachers are SO excited to dress up! Purpose and Goal: The funds raised from this event will be directed towards a crucial project: the installation of an outdoor toilet system in our forest garden. This addition will vastly improve our ability to provide uninterrupted outdoor classroom education, enhancing the learning experience for all our students. How You Can Participate: Sponsorship: We encourage you to ask family and friends to sponsor your child's efforts. Pledges can be made on a per-lap basis or as a flat donation. I will have packets for everyone AND we will have a GoFundMe page setup because this will be an ongoing fundraiser until we meet our goal. Volunteering: We will need volunteers to assist with various aspects of the event, from setup and registration to cheering on the runners. I will be posting a few jobs now, but other jobs will arise within the month. Go HERE if you would like to sign up for jobs. I want this to be so magical so we have a few crafty jobs to do! Save the Date: Mark your calendars for this exciting event! More detailed information, including the schedule, registration process, and fundraising materials, will be provided soon. December 8th ~ Winter Festival

Party from 5 - 6:30pm
Spiral Walks begin at 4:15

We saw our own inner light at the Lantern Walk, and now we will see our shared light reflected within the Winter Spiral at our Winter Festival. This festival will be rich with activities, socialization and singing; but the central event will be our Winter Spiral (also called Advent Spiral). Among soft candle-light and gentle harp music, the children go one by one through a spiral made of decorated greens and place their own candle on a star. Once they have all gone we see how our combined light creates brightness for everyone around us. Together, we will shine so brightly! If you cannot make the event, we will do the spiral again the following week for children who cannot come to the event. We will have so many fun crafts and activities! Like candle making, stringing nature garland, and singing. This year we are asking that you sign up for a time slot to do the Winter Spiral with your Lead Teacher and classmates. Please see the signup sheet to get your spot now. You will see that the Acorns will be the first groups to use the spiral, followed by the Saplings and finally the Oaks. Thank you for helping us streamline the magic! :) This event will be a Potluck so please sign-up for the item you will bring. Generally at a Potluck, you are not expected to feed everyone, but you at least want to make enough for 1/4 of the party size. In this case, if your dish serves about 20 people that should be plenty. This event will have festive volunteer jobs! So be sure to sign up right away for your favorite task on our Volunteer Google Doc. This is one of the most labor intensive events for the School Year but it is WELL WORTH if for all of the magic it brings. We will need all of the volunteer spots filled for gathering greens and setup if we are to successfully put this together. All of the greenery must be at the school by Thursday afternoon. Setup for the Spiral will begin at 12pm and will likely take 90 minutes (We will have snacks!) We will also need someone to help Teacher Heather put together a hot chocolate bar! So if that's interesting to you please grab the spot!

AUTUMN FUNDRAISER
with Dutch Mill Bulbs

Did you know that right now is the perfect time to plant bulbs for glorious Spring Blooms? We are thrilled to announce our Fall Fundraiser featuring Dutch Mill Bulbs! When you purchase through Dutch Mill, Treehouse will receive 50% of the proceeds, and these funds will go to purchasing hundreds of bulbs so that we can further transform our forest garden into a magical oasis. Fall-planting bulb orders ship in the Fall from September to November. Deadline to order is November 20th! How can you help? You can purchase your own bulbs by visiting our fundraising page, where you can explore a delightful selection of Dutch Mill Bulbs and make your purchases. Your support doesn't stop there - we encourage you to share this opportunity with your friends and family, and on your social media platforms. October 31st ~ Halloween Party

9 - 10am

You're invited to our All-school Haloween Party! On Tuesday October, 31st join us in the forest garden, weather permitting, or in the community room if it's rainy. We'll have games for the children and a costume contest for the grown-ups with prizes for all! We're looking for volunteers to bring pumpkin bread the day before and to help make coffee early on. Please RSVP by October 27th to assist with our planning. We're looking forward to seeing you there!

November 9th ~ Lantern Walk

4:30 pm

Each year in the Fall bleakness, families and teachers gather in the dark of impending winter for the ‘lantern walk’. This early evening gathering is in celebration of St Martin and the story of how he shared his cloak with another whose need was greater. The Lantern Walk is a simple event that honours the act of being a spark of light in the dark night, a spark of light in the world. It is a story that encourages us to be that warmth and light for ourselves and for others. On Thursday, November 9th at 4:30pm we will meet in our Forest Garden to carry our Lantern and sing songs of hope and kindness as we answer the call to help others and be good in this world.

Pumpkin Harvest

October 7th ~ Harvest Potluck Party

4:30 - 6pm

Save the date! We'll have an afternoon full of activities like pumpkin painting, apple spiraling, seed saving, face painting and more! Festivities will take place in our Forest Garden. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know your Teachers and Fellow Treehouse Families.

August 15th ~ Panera Bread Fundraiser!!!

4pm - 8pm

The Treehouse: a Forest Garden School will receive 20% of fundraiser sales* during this fundraiser. Participate on August 15th, 2023 by ordering online using the code FUND4U or by visiting this Panera Bread location and showing this fundraiser flyer or mentioning the fundraiser at checkout. * Tax, gift cards and catering orders are excluded from the donation. Ordering through third-party sites will not count.

Treehouse Family Campout

Friday July 28th - Sunday July 30th

For existing and incoming Treehouse Families. Experience the joy of the great outdoors at The Treehouse Family Campout! We invite families from The Treehouse community to join us for a delightful camping adventure that promises fun, connection, and cherished memories. We have secured a serene and picturesque primitive campsite, located just an hour away from the school, on the beautiful banks of the Columbia River. Home Valley Campground offers the perfect blend of tranquility and natural beauty for our camping adventure. The cost of the weekend will be determined once we have a final headcount, but it is estimated to be between $20 and $50 per family, depending on the number of families attending. I am delighted to share that we have received interest from 16 families and teachers so far. If you require financial assistance, please do not hesitate to complete the provided form. We have generous families who have expressed a willingness to partially sponsor those in need, so everyone can join in the fun. Furthermore, we have received tremendous interest from families willing to contribute to the event by leading or participating in group meals, workshops, crafts, and storytelling. I will provide more details about these opportunities soon.
