Learning about all the ways The Treehouse School nurtures children to have a deep connection and be stewards of nature, to grow belief in themselves and their capacities, and to be community conscious and follow their hearts, I am overjoyed and grateful to contribute in making school a place where children and teachers alike feel that we are a part of a joyful and essential endeavor - enriching and bringing healing into our lives and into our world - and to receive children in reverence, beauty and simplicity by creating a sacred space where happy, unhurried children are engrossed in play, stories, music, art, learning, farming, and movement, and in sharing ourselves, our lives, our celebrations, and our meals together in a place where we all come in singing and dancing and go out singing and dancing.

My journey into early childhood education began in 2021. Since then, I have completed my Waldorf Early Childhood teacher training certification at Sounds Circle Center for the Arts and Anthroposophy, including partial training in both Emmi Pikler and Magda Gerber (RIE) methods. This summer, I began my Waldorf Grades teacher training at Micha-el Institute. During the last three years, I have also spent my time keenly and lovingly listening, observing and serving with ever-marveling attentiveness to each individual child as an early childhood assistant teacher at Whidbey Island Waldorf School in the Little Wood Nursery and Toddler program and at Cedarwood Waldorf School in preschool and kindergarten classrooms.

In the course of my prior education, as a non-traditional older student, I earned a BA from Reed College, a Post Baccalaureate from Oregon College of Art of Craft, and an MFA from California College of the Arts, and a one year teaching artist residency at Qiang Lai in the Sichuan Mountains of China.

Spending my childhood playing in the forests, swimming holes, rivers and creeks and the ocean and tide pools of Boulder Creek and the Santa Cruz Mountains, where the redwoods meet the sea, I grew up in the forest and nature was my teacher. My reverent gratitude for nature, its forces, and all living things grew out of my early childhood experiences. I love swimming in fresh living water, walking in the beautiful fungi and moss-covered woodlands, watching sunsets, and gardening in my native permaculture/biodynamic food forest. I also love learning, preparing organic healthy meals, observing subtle nuances, and staying young at heart while cultivating a healthy inner and outer spiritual and artful life.

I share a beautiful bond with my son and three year old grandson, as well as my sister and her three fairly young children.
